What happened to us?

After Bernard Kohl, the 3rd place finisher in the Tour de France, tested positive for a blood boosting supplement, it made me think “What happened to us”? This amazing sport has changed so much over the years. We went from cheering on the Greg LeMonds and the Eddy Merx, to wondering if Lance Armstrong was on something when he won his “Magnificent 7”. This went from a sport that no one knew about, to a sport that everyone knows due to reasons that make you cringe. This used to be clean sport. When we had teams like 7-Eleven, Motorola, and Panasonic and not Phonak (hearing aids) or Discovery Channel. When the bikes looked like…well, bikes, and not the machines that your legs are just move. In my opinion, everyone is doping. It has become a sport that you need to cheat to compete, and go even farther to win. Well, I guess these individuals that have such extraordinary endurance, and passion have lost their way. I guess the will to win is too great for these athletes. Now I go back to my original question” What happened to us”? I don’t think we will ever know.
