Ugh, well that didn’t go as expected! Weren’t the Red Wings supposed to prove to the world that they were a real contender and show who’s boss in Pittsburgh? And weren’t the Pistons also supposed to defy the sports world in pulling out a fantastic win in Game 5 against the C’s? Apparently not. But it wasn’t all bad news, just a bad night. The Red Wings didn’t seem to struggle early, with the whole “white out” deal, and seemed to resort back to who they were in the first two games of the series, but you had to know that eventually the Penguins HAD to score, and you knew it just HAD to be Crosby right? Of course, and also it couldn’t have been once, it HAD to be twice. But Osgood wasn’t all that bad, and I’m guaranteeing, that’s right, guaranteeing a win in Game 4, and you can write that down. Now, switching sports here to the basketball team who has the most prominent technical foul getter and is also not only the king of guarantees, but is also the biggest cusser in professional basketball right now. Rasheed Wallace went off last night after a 4 point loss in Boston, which of course led to much media attention, more then would be expected you could say. Again, it wasn’t all bad. Chauncey, Rip, and Rasheed himself all had over 18 point games, including Billups’ 26, and Stuckey had 13 off the bench. But then again, there is certainly room for improvement. I stated in my last article that Chauncey needed to step up even with his hamstring, and he did, but I also said that in order for Boston to win, they needed a big game from Ray Allen, and they got exactly what the doctor ordered. Allen had 29 points with only 2 fouls. Also, I said we had to get inside with our shots to draw more fouls seeing as we got out shot in free throws big time in Game 3 despite the win. But get this: our center (Antonio McDyess) had only 4 points. Now we did get to the line more, but our defense was pitiful, especially that horrid rebounding of ours. Isn’t that supposed to be our thing, defense? Apparently not. So now we face the brink of elimination, down 3-2, and the series will head back to Detroit for Saturday’s Game 6. I wish the Wings and Pistons would listen to me…ah, never mind. But it would be nice to not have the Penguins tie up the Stanley Cup finals and also to not be eliminated, that would pretty much suck. So here’s one thing that is apparent: Irish and Marine Animals=Bad News for Detroit.
