German cyclist Zabel retires at 38 (AP)
Germany's Erik Zabel is retiring from professional cycling, leaving the sport without one if its most dominant sprinters over the last 15 years. Zabel won 12 stages in the Tour de France and captured the green jersey going to the top sprinter in cycling's premier event six times. The 38-year-old also won the Italian classic Milan-San Remo four times and the French classic Paris-Tours three times. (view full text)
