Hello Youcastr vets! Its time for me to come out of my summer slumber. I have a confession to make:
Its been awhile since I last blogged. I’ve had more Voice-over sessions than the Phillies have had wins in the last two or so weeks.
If you’re one of those wondering where I was that’s my legit reason.
Tonight, begins a crucial 3-game series at Shea Stadium, also known as the last cookie-cutter stadium in the National League to go bye-bye at the end of the season. For the Phillies this will be the last showdown with ...

The 76ers are close to trading forward Rodney Carney and a future No. 1 pick to the Minnesota Timberwolves in a deal that clears salary cap space for Philadelphia to make a stronger push for free agents, a person in the NBA told The Associated Press on Tuesday.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the trade had not yet been completed and the NBA trade moratorium is not lifted until Wednesday.
The 76ers will throw in reserve forward Calvin Booth, but are working out the particulars of what they will get back from Minnesota...

Oh yes who can forget that October 16, 1993 at 8:35pm when Joe Carter blasted a 3-run home run to win the World Series for the Toronto Blue Jays and send home my Philadelphia Phillies golfing.
That was the most upsetting defeat in my life!:-( I cried for hours like a little girl hoping Philadelphia would end the championship drought, but it wasn’t to be.
Oh how times have changed today. :-)
The Phillies are in First Place at 35-25, winning back the 1993 fans hearts for the moment at least.
Here is a awesome article on the 2...

Its been 25 years. Thats right. 25 years ago today a major sports team from the City of Brotherly Love – Philadelphia won a championship. The answer? Your Philadelphia 76ers.
The key to the 1983 Sixers was the acquisition of #2 Moses Malone. Without him the Sixers would not have swept the Los Angeles Lakers out of the Forum.
Malone’s infamous statement prior to the 1983 NBA playoffs “fo, fo, fo,” raised a few eyebrows at the time.
“I said it to some reporters. That’s the way I felt. If Andrew Tone...

A season full of surprises ends with a disappointing clunker. The Flyers ended their season Sunday losing 6-0 to the Pittsburgh Penguins, who now await the winner of the Detroit-Dallas series for the right to play for the Stanley Cup.
The Flyers may be out of the playoffs, but they’re not down on themselves. They have a lot to be proud of.
They’re are only the second team in NHL history to have the w...

After dropping the first three games of the Eastern Conference Finals, the Flyers took the ice in Game 4 looking to hold off elimination. The Orange-and-Black jumped out to an early lead, scoring three goals in the first period and held on for a 4-2 victory over the Penguins on Thursday night. Joffrey Lupul notched two goals in the win, while Danny Briere scored on a power play for his first goal of the series. The Flyers will travel back to Pittsburgh for Game 5 on Sunday (3 p.m./NBC).
The biggest moment in this game had to be Derian Hat...

3 games. 3 losses. It doesn’t get any easier for the Philadelphia Flyers.
Down 3-0 to the mighty Pittsburgh Penguins, the Flyers try to extend their season tonight as they tango with the Pens at the Wachovia Center Wednesday night 7:30 on Versus.
John Stevens, head coach of the Flyers, has made some line changes for tonight. Mike Richards will be re-united with Danny Briere along with Scott Hartnell and Vaclav Prospal will center a line with Jeff Carter and R.J. Umberger.
Steve Downie, who has played admirably these last two g...

Down but not out! The Philadelphia Flyers are in a world of hurt down 0-2 to the mighty Pens and without their second best defenseman Braydon Coburn. For those who missed the game, Coburn took a Evgeni Malkin wrister to the facial area and appeared to have injured his left eye. However, from what I understand he went to the locker room at Mellon Arena and required 50 stitches.
This is another heartbreaking loss to a team destined to prove naysayers wrong.
Why does is have to happen to Philadelphia? Come on.
There is still hope when ...

Is it too early to talk sweep?
After the Penguins sizable 4-2 win against the Flyers on Friday night some members of the Pittsburgh Press, most notably Ron Cook, are taking shots at Philadelphia.
Thanks, Ron. It was an article that circulated throughout the Flyers’ locker room, producing grins and snickering from the players that read it. Maybe that is exactly the kind of pick-me-up that the Flyers need for Game 2.
Cook said “Is there any reason to think the series with the Philadelphia Flyers will go more than four? It’...

Welcome back to the Youcastr (YC) Flyers Nest. This week we preview the upcoming Eastern Conference Final series between the Philadelphia Flyers and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
On paper the Penguins pose a big threat to the Philadelphia Flyers that much is true. But, the Flyers have 7 players with 20+ goals each. So, they have balance and they’re not going to lay down and let the Penguins roll over them. With that said, I think this series is going to be physical from the get-go.
Here are my five keys to the series:
1. Crosby/M...
