Traditional broadcast networks (ESPN, CBS, ABC, Fox, and NBC) provide coverage of only select professional and collegiate sporting events. Even within professional and collegiate sports only the top games and teams are broadcast.
However, less than 10% if the 200,000 annual collegiate sporting events are covered, less than 1% of the 3,000,000 high school events are covered, and amateur and recreational sports are relatively uncovered.
In the future, hopefully all of those “other” sports are broadcast online. Just a few mo...

There are times when it seems relaxing to kick back and just watch your favorite team on television or zone out and listen to the babble on a local sports talk radio station. Television is purely passive – announcers with varying levels of qualification trying to appeal to a broad demographic. I think we all have announcers we find really annoying. Historically, to broadcast sporting events required a great deal of expensive equipment including mixers, transmitters, miles of cable, and maybe even a few trucks, and technical expertise to figure out how to get the broadcast over the airwaves. High speed Internet, digital camcorders, USB mics and laptops with excellent media capabilities have significantly reduced the barriers to broadcast live sporting events. YouCastr has capitalized on these technology trends and created a broadcasting platform to connect the broadcasters with the v...

As one of the founders of YouCastr, I often get the question of why we decided to create YouCastr. We were dissatisfied with how traditional media companies require us to experience sports – a passive one-way experience, broadcasters who try to appeal to a broad demographic rather than desires of specific users, and covering only select events. Rather than just complaining, we applied our entrepreneurial spirit to create YouCastr – our initial vision of The Future of Sports Entertainment.
At one level, YouCastr represents th...

Welcome to YouCastr (YC) Red Sox Nation. In this blog I will be providing my thoughts on the everything Red Sox – players, games, competitors, and my thoughts on whatever is in the news.
After winning their 2nd World Series title in 4 years in 2007, I am looking forward to the 2008 version of the Red Sox. Unlike 2005 where there was a great deal of turnover of veteran (older) players on the team, there was little turnover on the Red Sox roster during this off season. The exciting young talent previewed during call-ups and the post...
